Necrons

The new Necron figures are proving to be a firm favourite at the studio. With this top tier commission, consisting of the whole Necron force in the Indomitus box set, we came up with this brooding paint scheme. A subtle colour-shift metallic, with an emphasis on the many OSL (object spot lighting) points on each figure, along with a stunning level 3 Necron themed base, makes the whole commission look spectacular.

About the WarHammer Necron 40k Commission

Working with games workshop’s new 32mm ranges is a joy. Painting a battle force like this Necron army allows the creative juices to flow.

Together with the client we fleshed out his initial thoughts of the army fighting within a Necron tomb, lit by the colourful energy pulsing through the floor. We agreed that an intense but subtle orange OSL glow on many points on each miniature help the figures pop, whilst complementing the two tone metallic scheme used on the majority of the figures. Using a subtle colour shift for the outer Armour and a stunning metallic green for the interior, the subtle orange glow from the OSL radiates beautifully on both these surfaces.

To finish the initial brief, highly detailed bases were constructed. Creating the energy floor then adding debris representing pieces of the ceiling of the tomb. Weathering powders were then used to represent the dust caused by the debris and helped tie the miniatures with the base.

It is a truly amazing force to behold in the flesh and a very happy client to boot.
